Nurse Practitioner - Primary Care

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.* Independently manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease preventionusing evidence-based practice.Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management.Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members.Orders and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies.Provides timely follow-up on results, including completion of view alerts.Performs and records history and physical examinations and records data from clinic visits.Enters progress notes in computerized medical record and completes workload documentation in a timely manner.Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.Initiates referrals and consults to specialty services.Provides education to patients and their families.Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.Consults other specialties as appropriate, according to service agreements.Exemplifies the ICARE core values of-Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total RewardsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awardsPaid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryWork Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm at the discretion of the departmentTelework: Available, per supervisor discretionVirtual: This is not a virtual position.Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedPermanent Change of Station (PCS): Not AuthorizedEDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive.
