Software Engineering Manager

What you’ll do:Work with product management to understand the business goals for each software releaseManage an outstanding team of software engineers delivering new functionality, updates, and maintenance releasesContinuously coordinate with web design, engineering operations/IT, DBAs and QA, engaging teams at the appropriate timesAnticipate project blockers and help form remediation plans (before the project and delivery timelines suffer)Provide hands‑on help in architecting, designing, implementing, deploying and documenting software applications and servicesHelp establish quality methodologies, metrics, and standards to track and improve the engineering productivityMentor and recruit top talent for the engineering teamManage both onshore and offshore team membersWho you are:10+ years of professional experience in software development and 3+ years of managementHistory of successfully delivering continuous software releases using "Agile" development methodologies (such as Scrum)Ability to delve into a technical problem and drive the solution personally, if the need arisesWorking knowledge of common Web Technologies such as Java, Python, SQL and SpringbootUnderstanding of how AI is affecting the SDLC and how it applies to engineering teamsA solid understanding of the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and its practical application within engineering teamsWorking knowledge of enterprise level architectural patterns (client-server, n-tier, etc.), Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), Design Patterns, Database Centric Processing, and data warehousing - as they relate to scalabilityA Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Master’s degree is a plusWhy Ancestry?Join a dedicated team working to connect millions of people with their past and enrich their futures. Base salary range: $139,230 - $174,000, with eligibility for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision.
