The Medical Coder will be responsible for accurately reviewing, assigning, and verifying diagnostic and procedural codes for patient records to ensure proper billing and compliance with all applicable regulations. This role plays a key part in optimizing revenue cycle performance while maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality.Key Responsibilities:Review patient medical records, provider notes, and clinical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codesEnsure coding accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulationsWork closely with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures as neededIdentify and resolve coding discrepancies or denialsMaintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and industry standardsAssist with audits and support internal compliance initiativesCollaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure timely and accurate claim submissionsQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in Health Information Management or related field preferredCertified Professional Coder (CPC) certification preferredMinimum of 1–2 years of medical coding experience preferredStrong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systemsFamiliarity with electronic health record (EHR) systemsExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong communication and problem-solving abilitiesWork Environment & Schedule:Full-time position (typically 40 hours per week)On-site or hybrid work options may be available depending on employer needsStandard business hours, Monday through FridayBenefits (may vary by employer):Competitive salaryHealth, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and holidaysRetirement plan optionsContinuing education and certification support
