Graphic Arts Teacher

2025/2026 School Year Position ~ Graphic Arts Teacher Posting Date: December 6, 2024 Internal Closing Date: December 12, 2024 External Closing Date: December 16, 2024 Overview: Dexter Community Schools is seeking a dedicated and experienced Graphic Arts Teacher for our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, part of South West Washtenaw Consortium (SWWC). The successful candidate will inspire and equip students with essential skills in graphic arts and communications, preparing them for future careers or advanced education in this dynamic field. Responsibilities: Deliver engaging instruction to high school students in graphic arts, aligned with CTE standards. Provide hands-on learning experiences, including: Design principles and layout processes Graphic arts photography Screen-printing techniques Business aspects such as customer service, cost estimation, scheduling, and production Ensure a safe and welcoming learning environment. Facilitate school-to-work transition opportunities and articulate pathways with higher education institutions Guide students in compiling portfolios showcasing their completed work. Maintain and manage graphic arts equipment and supplies. Qualifications: Valid State of Michigan Standard CTE Certificate, or eligibility to obtain appropriate certification. Relevant education and work experience in graphic arts or a related field. Strong understanding of current graphic communication technologies and industry practices. Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor high school students. Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience in a CTE or graphic arts setting. Proficiency with industry-standard design software and printing equipment. Experience with customer-based projects and knowledge of the business aspects of graphic communications. Strong organizational and communication skills.
