Controller

Title: ControllerSalary: $100,000 – $120,000Location: Buffalo, NYThis is a hands-on accounting leadership role responsible for overseeing the full scope of financial management, reporting, and compliance for a local non-profit organization. The Controller will ensure accurate financial records, strong internal controls, and timely reporting while partnering closely with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial decisions. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, journal entries, accruals, and payroll processing. Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly financial statements, event revenue reports, and internal management reporting. Lead the annual budgeting process and present financials to the Finance & Audit Committee and Board of Directors. Coordinate and manage all audit preparation workpapers for external accounting firms. Prepare required organizational tax filings and government compliance reporting (OSHA, NYS agencies, Census Bureau, etc.)Develop bi-weekly sales and revenue forecasts by business segment for leadership review.Manage cash flow monitoring, banking relationships, and short-term investment decisions.Support union relations, including benefits administration, grievance processes, and contract negotiations.
