Material HandlerThe role of the Material Handler is to perform tasks related to loading and unloading of trucks, shipping and receiving supplies, moving product, and ensuring scrap levels are accurately tracked. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Include the following. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by operations & staff management. Using appropriate machinery/equipment - unloads and examines incoming shipments with appropriate methods, rejects damaged or incorrect items, records shortages, and communicates Leadership about damages and shortages. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Prepares, loads and secures products for shipment or storage. Ensure scrap segregation. Identifying information and shipping instructions onto products as required. Verifies products to be correctly marked, shipped and examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Delivers items to the appropriate departments as required. Uses hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, front end loaders and other material handling equipment to perform duties and move product where necessary. Ensures housekeeping and organization are upheld. Minimum Requirements and Qualifications: Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire, Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Material Handlers must be able to work any shift. Material Handlers will move up to 50lbs using appropriate equipment and PPE. Material Handlers must be cognizant of noise around them in and outside of plant at all times. Material Handlers must be willing to work in hot and cold temperatures as temperatures fluctuate per season. Skills and Abilities: Ability to identify problems, inform others, and assist in the solving of such problems Judgment and decision-making abilities to prevent errors, scrap parts, safety hazards, or other poor results pertaining to job duties. Ability to read and interpret work documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality instructions, and other related documents. Ability to work with others as a team Licenses or Certifications: If driving is required to complete the essential functions of this position, a valid driver's license is required Must satisfactorily complete the Ellwood Aluminum Crane and Forklift certification training programs Safety: Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules Promotes a safety culture and ensures compliance with safety policies and rules Safety improvement Provides for continuous reduction of workplace hazards, risks, employee accidents.
