Job Title Sr. Project Engineer / Project Manager Division Roofing Systems (RS) Work Model Hybrid / Flexible work-from-home days (based on travel + project needs) Travel Heavy travel required (30%-60%) Preferred Base Location Littleton, CO (ideal) OR within driving distance of a Roofing Systems (RS) plant location (required for on-site support) Work Locations (Plant-Based Coverage) Scottsboro, AL I Jacksonville, FL I Macon, GA I Hillsboro, TX I Milan, OH I Fernley, NV I Littleton, CO (preferred) This role supports multiple Roofing System plant locations. Candidate should be based near one of the below sites. Note: The role offers flexibility while traveling, but proximity to an RS plant is required for on-site collaboration and operational needs. Overview The Senior Project Engineer / Manager is accountable for the technical and commercial execution of large and complex capital investment projects. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and per scope/functionality, while maintaining alignment with key stakeholders across plant leadership and business teams. Typical project budget scope ranges from $5M to $60M, including unit operations such as: Material handling systems Abatement/environmental systems Utilities HVAC Electrical controls & automation Packaging/production line expansions Dryer rebuilds The Sr. Project Engineer leads cross-functional teams including plant personnel, engineering disciplines, procurement, contractors, and external engineering firms. Key Responsibilities (Your Day-to-Day) Capital Project Execution Lead execution of capital investment projects ($5M-$60M) following CPP process and division standards Manage projects end-to-end: justification → feasibility → engineering → procurement → installation → commissioning → close-out Deliver projects safely with a zero-incident project environment Feasibility, Engineering & Business Case Develop and present feasibility studies and business cases identifying: ROI / expected benefits technical risks and constraints cost drivers and schedule impacts Drive iteration of options to determine the best technical solution aligned to performance and cost improvements Planning, Cost, Schedule, and Forecasting Estimate project costs, resource needs, and durations Develop and manage: project schedules (MS Project / Primavera) budgets and forecasts project deliverables and milestone tracking Proactively manage scope, risks, and change control Vendor, Contractor & External Resource Management Partner with procurement to evaluate vendors for cost/performance fit Develop: bid documentation supplier lists bid evaluations and sourcing recommendations Manage engineering contractors and consultants, including oversight of external engineering deliverables Lead contractor performance with strong safety and quality compliance Technical Review & Compliance Review Mechanical and/or Electrical Controls engineering design packages Ensure compliance with: technical specifications equipment/work contracts safety and environmental requirements permit requirements Ensure lessons learned are integrated into project designs Safety, Ergonomics & Environmental Compliance Design safe processes and specify safe equipment Ensure ergonomic standards are integrated into design Identify and eliminate safety and health hazards during project execution Specify environmentally compliant processes and equipment and ensure environmental risks are addressed Operations Readiness & Training Prepare, review, and deliver training for maintenance and operations teams as required Drive smooth turnover to plant operations with full documentation and readiness Communication & Continuous Improvement Maintain communication to stakeholders regarding status, changes, risks, and milestones Apply lean manufacturing concepts to design and execution Maintain detailed project documentation and archives Maintain continuous lesson‑learned logbook; lead post‑project analysis and share outcomes with engineering team Coach and mentor project staff and operational team members Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical preferred) Minimum 5 years engineering experience in industrial/manufacturing environment Minimum 5 years Project Engineering / Project Management / Leadership experience Strong project management experience (up to $25M+, with ability to support larger programs) Proven experience managing contractors & subcontractors (including bid process) Experience preparing: estimates schedules project deliverables Strong negotiation skills and change management capability Solid understanding of contract design and legal requirements Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Proficiency in: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Project scheduling tools (MS Project / Primavera) Preferred / Nice to Have Exposure to SAP systems Experience working in high‑capital project environments across multiple plants Work Environment / Physical Requirements Manufacturing facility environment: exposure may include cold/heat, noise, heights, moving mechanical parts, dust/mist/gas/fumes Extensive walking/climbing may be required May lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs Core Skills Capital Project Management (CAPEX) Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering Cross‑functional Leadership Contractor & Vendor Management Budgeting, Forecasting & Scheduling Mechanical Systems / Utilities / HVAC Electrical Controls / Automation (preferred exposure) Safety / Ergonomics / Environmental compliance Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement Skills & Certifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Project Management Experience Ability to Travel (30%-60%) #J-18808-Ljbffr
