DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Hospital Chaplain provides and coordinates pastoral care and spiritual support to patients, families, staff, and visitors. As a vital member of the interdisciplinary health care team, the chaplain ensures holistic care by integrating spiritual and emotional support into patient treatment plans. This role responds to emergency needs, offers guidance during illness or injury, and supports individuals facing complex medical and ethical decisions. The chaplain also fosters relationships within the broader community and organizes interfaith worship experiences for patients, families, and staff. All care is delivered in alignment with Hood Memorial Hospital's mission to respect cultural, spiritual, and personal values, and in accordance with professional chaplaincy standards.RequirementsQualificationsBachelor's or Preferred Master's degree in Divinity, Theology, Social Work, or a related field.Certification received from at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or Board-Certified Chaplain (BCC).OR Preferred Certification by the Louisiana Chaplain's Association plus three years of experience in ministry or chaplaincy.Strong interpersonal communication, empathy, crisis intervention, and ability to serve diverse faith traditions.Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
