Lead the automation and controls backbone of a continuous caster while developing the next generation of industrial electricians.Please note this position is located onsite in the Corpus Christi area. We'd offer relocation assistance.Job SummaryWe are seeking a Caster Controls Engineer to provide technical leadership and hands-on troubleshooting support within a continuous casting operation. This role is critical to improving reliability, automation performance, and technical capability on the caster, while developing and mentoring a young electrical team.You will serve as the technical authority for caster controls and automation, working directly with equipment, Siemens PLC-based systems, and oscillation control logic. In addition to technical ownership, this role carries strong people leadership responsibility, guiding and training a group of electricians with varying experience levels.This is not a desk-only engineering role. Success requires curiosity, urgency, and comfort being in the middle of problems until they are solved.DutiesServe as the primary controls and automation lead for the caster operationTroubleshoot and optimize PLC-based control systems (Siemens environment)Modify and improve existing control programs to address process and reliability issuesProvide technical leadership for oscillator controls and caster automation systemsLead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 8 shift electricians, many early in their careersElevate troubleshooting skills and technical confidence across the electrical teamDrive problems to resolution through structured troubleshooting and hands-on involvementCollaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teamsInterface with contractors and vendors as needed to support upgrades and improvementsSupport continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing throughput and uptimeQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering5–10+ years of relevant experience in a heavy industrial environment (steel, milling, paper, metals, etc.)Automation or controls experience in an industrial manufacturing environmentStrong troubleshooting skills with PLC-controlled systemsWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation.Comprehensive benefits package: medical, dental, vision, life insurance.401(k) and profit-sharing plan.Opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in a collaborative environment.
