Lead Surgical Tech - OR
Job DescriptionWorking Lead. Trains and mentors staff. Coordinates scheduling and efforts of Surgical Techs. Certified surgical technician providing intra-operative support. Assists the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment duringsurgical procedures. Maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field. Prepares operating rooms for surgery, using appropriatetechniques. Provides technical services and assists in other areas as assigned and directed. Participates in department performance improvementand continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.Utilizes the written individualized Physician Preference Card for the surgical procedure.Coordinates with circulating nurse to provide supplies, equipment and instruments for designated surgical proceduresUtilizes a working knowledge of current surgical scrub technology and medical terminology.Coordinates with circulating nurse to continuously assess case progress and patient's safety. Properly operates and documents operation of all equipment utilized. Adheres to safety precautions during use of electrosurgical units, lasers, and any surgical equipment.Handles and labels specimens.Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assignedMinimum RequirementsExperience: Two years of hospital surgical experience or formal training program. Knowledge and experience in operativeprocedures, equipment and instrumentation, and /or equalivent experience.Education: Completion of formal education/training to obtain a Certification as a Surgical Tech and/or acquired Certificationcompletion within 6 months.Certifications: Certification as a Surgical Tech, or acquired Certification completion within 6 months.
