About the Opportunity
Our client, a leader in EdTech and SaaS, is looking for a skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join their expanding DevOps group for a 6+ month contract-to-hire engagement. This is a chance to contribute to the evolution of the AWS cloud infrastructure supporting their award-winning i-Ready SaaS application, which serves a third of the nation's K-8 students. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
Develop and advance "shift left" capabilities in Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
Build, operate, scale, and troubleshoot the SaaS infrastructure in an Agile environment.
Write tools for systems and infrastructure automation.
Enhance monitoring tools, build infrastructure, and source code management, ensuring seamless integration between infrastructure and applications.
Support other teams' build and infrastructure needs and participate in an on-call rotation to provide operations coverage.
Required Skills & Experience
6+ years of DevOps experience.
Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt) and Terraform (or CloudFormation). This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
Extensive experience with AWS Cloud technologies (e.g., EC2, RDS, CloudFront, CloudWatch, DynamoDB) and container orchestrators like ECS.
Proficiency with CI/CD tools and processes, including Git, Jenkins, and Nexus.
Experience with languages such as Python/Go and technologies including MySQL, Java/Tomcat/Apache, and Splunk for systems monitoring/management.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
Experience operating a 24/7 production web application.
Strong communication skills and an ability to lead and provide mentorship to team members.
