First Baptist Church of Havelock exists to glorify God, stand firm on scripture and prayer, make disciples of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and love others as ourselves. We are a church who understands our identity, has deep historical roots tied to our city, and seeks to bless our military community. We are dedicated to being a beacon of truth and action (Philippians 2:14-16). FBCH is growing and in need of a Director of children and family ministry who feels passionate about working with children, youth, and families. On average, 25-30 children and 15 youth are present each Sunday morning. Please visit www.fbchavelock.org for more information regarding our church.Purpose:The Director will focus on the discipleship of children and youth, helping families with children grow together as followers of Jesus Christ. This includes developing effective communication, recruiting and equipping volunteers, and providing cohesive direction to programs and events. The Director will be a primary voice and advocate for the needs of children at FBCH and will work alongside the Senior Pastor, Elders and team leaders to lead, build, and guide healthy Christian families. Applicant Characteristics:Model a personal and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.Work in harmony with the Senior Pastor, Elders and Ministry Team Leaders.Have a firm grasp on the mission, vision, values, and strategy of First Baptist Church Havelock.Qualifications and RequirementsThe applicant must:Exemplify a love for children and be passionate about building relationships with children and youth.Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and social media.Possess strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills.Communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and on social media platforms.Maintain confidentiality and use discernment.Preferred Qualifications:An earned Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or family ministry, andTwo years of relevant work experience, or An equivalent combination of education and experience.Core Responsibilities:Ministry Leadership: Oversee youth Sunday school, children’s Sunday school, children’s church, nursery ministry, AWANA, Vacation Bible School, and other children’s and youth-related programs and events. Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-organized ministry environment, including classrooms, supplies, snacks, materials, and child check-in/check-out procedures. Lead children’s worship and choir programs, if applicable.Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and support teachers and volunteers for youth, children’s and nursery ministries.Family Partnership: Foster strong relationships with children, parents, volunteers, and the church family. Equip and encourage families in discipleship at home. Develop outreach opportunities that connect youth, children and families in the community to the church. Encourage a ministry culture of teamwork, appreciation, spiritual growth, and servant leadership.Events and Curriculum: Plan, develop, and lead engaging, age-appropriate, biblically sound discipleship for children and youth. Participate actively in church life, worship services, leadership meetings, and family-oriented events. Identify and champion future opportunities to strengthen ministry to children, youth, and families.Administrative Oversight: Administer the child protection policy and coordinate background checks and annual training. Coordinate childcare and volunteer schedules for worship services, ministries, and special events. Collaborate with church leadership in ministry development, outreach, and long-range planning.
