PHMC serves as both a direct service provider to individuals, families, and communities across the region and an intermediary agent, managing large-scale contracts, government and philanthropic partnerships, and multidisciplinary initiatives that require operational sophistication, strategic leadership, and deep mission alignment.Reports To: Dental DirectorDivision: PHMC HealthJob Overview:The Dentist is a part-time position working under the supervision of the Dental Director, for two days a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Dentist provides professional, high-quality dental diagnosis, treatment, and education to a broad range of patients, including children, adolescents, and adults. The Dentist also participates in the ongoing evaluation of Dental Program operations to ensure the delivery of high-quality services that support the financial sustainability of the program in compliance with all regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, DPH, Joint Commission).Responsibilities:Provides hands-on dental care in a variety of settings while achieving the highest levels of appropriateness, quality, efficiency, accessibility, and responsiveness.Maintains full appointment schedule for office practice and other settingsProvides a full range of general dental services within the dentist’s defined scope of trainingUtilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment techniquesRefers patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as appropriatePrescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriateDirects and coordinates the patient care activities of dental staff as requiredFollows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standardsMaintains necessary credentialing, licensure, and continuing education requirementsCompletes patient notes in the electronic health record system within 48 hours of the patient visitCompletes chart reviews as instructed periodicallyPerforms miscellaneous job-related duties as assignedSkills:Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standardsThorough knowledge of the principles and practices of modern dentistry and oral surgeryThorough knowledge of dental terminology and dental scienceThorough understanding of the theories, methods, and procedures for the prevention of dental diseases and the required corrective treatmentKnowledge of the community-based dental environmentAbility to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignmentsKnowledge of current principles, methods, and procedures for the delivery of dental evaluations, diagnosis, and treatmentKnowledge of related accreditation and certification requirementsKnowledge of ethical and legal standards for the delivery of dental careAbility to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions,s and progressKnowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aides, and the ability to prescribe dosage and instruct patients in correct usageAbility to develop and implement individualized dental treatment plans for patientsBehavioral Qualities:Ability to foster a cooperative work environmentA team playerEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimum supervisionResponds constructively to pressure situations and time limitsAccepts and offers guidance and supervision as appropriateAttends and participates in staff meetings to review team progress in meeting financial and productivity goals for the dental programPlaces a high value on personal and departmental performance excellenceAdheres to office dress code and standards of behaviorMaintains patient confidentialityUses sick time appropriatelyExperience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of community-based dental services.Spanish language proficiency preferred.Education:DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental schoolCurrent licensure in the state of PennsylvaniaValid DEA license to prescribe narcoticsCurrent CPR/AED certificationPay Grade: 28PHMC is an Equal Opportunity and E-Verify Employer.
