Outside Sales Representative

Spectrum Painting in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey is hiring two full-time Outside Sales Representative to help drive business development across North Jersey. These roles are ideal for driven, people-oriented professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are motivated by performance-based growth.The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for managing the end-to-end sales process — from prospecting to presenting estimates to closing deals. This role supports both residential and commercial markets and plays a vital part in representing Spectrum’s high-quality service with professionalism and integrity.💰 Compensation & ScheduleFirst-year on-goal total compensation: $60,000 - $125,000+ (no cap) with bonus structureSchedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings and Saturdays as neededBenefits include: 401(k), paid training, health insurance, weekly pay, PTO, and year-round work📌 Key Responsibilities🔍 Sales & EstimatingAttend scheduled estimates on time and in uniformProvide clear, detailed quotes within 48 hours using company pricing systemsUse a consultative sales approach to understand customer needs and communicate valueMaintain consistent follow-up until all open bids receive a final decision (yes or no)Visit every sold job at least once to reinforce relationships and monitor qualityEnsure jobs stay “happy and under” by aligning expectations with productionSell across verticals (painting, flooring, light carpentry) and adjust communication per customer type (residential/commercial)📞 Communication & Customer ExperienceMaintain ongoing communication with customers through email, calls, and job visitsPromptly return all incoming calls (within 4 business hours)Represent the company professionally with punctuality, presentation, and positivityCoordinate project details with crew leaders, including job scope, materials, colors, and timeline🧠 Pipeline Management & ProspectingBuild and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunitiesUse CRM to track all leads, estimates, communication, and follow-upsAnalyze blueprints, plans, or scope documents where neededParticipate in networking groups and referral programs to generate new leadsDevelop a personal prospecting plan to grow individual and company success👥 Leadership & Team EngagementAttend all team meetings and training sessionsCollaborate with other departments and provide field insight for planningContribute to process improvement and strategic initiativesSupport and live out Spectrum’s culture and values✅ Skills & Traits For SuccessLove for competition and achieving sales goalsStrong closer — not afraid to ask for the saleExcellent interpersonal, listening, and questioning skillsHighly organized and consistent with CRM usageStrong written and verbal communicationValue-selling mindset with confidence in presenting premium servicesProfessionalism, punctuality, and attention to detailSelf-motivated and persistent📚 Qualifications3+ years of sales experience (residential or B2B preferred)Experience with a one- to two-call close processValid driver’s license with a clean driving recordFluent in English and authorized to work in the U.S.Estimating experience and blueprint reading a plus, but not requiredTrade/industry background is not required🌟 About Spectrum PaintingSpectrum Painting is a full-service company proudly serving North Jersey with high-quality interior and exterior painting, concrete coatings, and light carpentry.
