Controls Engineer Job at a Glance Title: Controls Engineer Location: Mineral, VA Contract: W2 only, 12-month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full-time Pay: $65/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match Per Diem: $100 per day, up to $700 per week Overview Support the digital upgrade project for Subsequent License Renewal at Surry Power Station. This role involves reviewing vendor test procedures, witnessing factory acceptance tests, and supporting site acceptance testing at a cyber-controlled, owner facility. The position offers a hybrid work option with 3 days on-site and 1 day remote per week. Key Responsibilities Support of the digital upgrade project for Subsequent License Renewal Review vendor test procedures for accuracy against design documentation Witness factory acceptance tests at vendor facilities Identify critical requirements to be performed during site acceptance testing Write site acceptance test procedures to be performed at a cyber-controlled, owner facility Direct and perform site acceptance test procedures at Surry Power Station Support overall project design and implementation Mark up and revise procedures associated with Subsequent License Renewal design changes Required Skills 6 or more years building, troubleshooting, or operating PLCs or DCS platforms in an industrial environment 6 or more years in a maintenance, operations, or engineering role within manufacturing, industrial, or nuclear environments Strong oral, written, verbal, and computer skills, including Microsoft and Adobe applications Strong communication skills Self-motivated with a high level of organizational skills Ability to lead, collaborate, and work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams Preferred Skills Emerson or Westinghouse Ovation experience Experience with FrameMaker, Documentum, or other document management tools Formal experience as a technical procedure writer Nuclear operations or maintenance experience Familiarity with EPRI Digital Systems Engineering Guideline (DEG) Why Should I Apply?
