At Bermex, we are always looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working independently and love the outdoors to become a part of our team.Role DescriptionThe Assistant Project Manager reports to the Operations Manager at Bermex. This position will play a key role in directing personnel, staffing, training, planning, and overseeing the operations and fiscal health of the company. This position will also be responsible for maintaining excellent customer services while managing field service operations for groups of employees. It is important for the candidate to plan and maintain work systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage the optimum performance of their employees. This position requires a high degree of organization and attention to detail, as well as strong leadership skills.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage and Maintain WorkforceEnsure the health and safety of the workforceMaintains inventory of tools, equipment and suppliesEnsures that all vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe and proper working conditionEnsuring productivity levels are maintained through effective monitoring of staffing levels and financial requirementsDevelopment of an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, employee retention and development and high performanceCoach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboardingGuiding personnel to achieve optimum performance levelFollow fleet standards and vehicle operating policiesControl over maintenance and repair of vehiclesTrain personnel of safety and accident prevention programUnderstand and adhere to all company safety procedures as they relate to essential job functionsCollaborate with Management PersonnelFormulating departmental goals, strategies, and operating policies and procedures and directing implementation of approved changesPrepares the department forecast and monitor expenses with that forecastPrepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to meter readingCompletes quality control audits on field personnel monthlyMaking recommendations on employees regarding employment, performance appraisal, salary changes, promotions, transfers and terminationsProvide written communication on aspects such as economy/efficiency of operations, quality control performance, production/personnel scheduling, and client relationshipsWork with the Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employeesCustomer CommunicationRefers all consumer complaints to the appropriate authoritiesEnsure all complaints are resolved in a timely manner and is acceptable to our clientsTrain employees on conflict resolution strategiesRequirementsMinimum Qualifications:Education: High School Degree/GEDExperience: newer leader (less than 1 year) and 1 to 3 years of field experience supporting utilities (water, gas).Must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time managing multiple projects across the US.Ability to become a proctor and evaluator for operator qualifications required to perform natural gas meter exchanges and relights.Preferred Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related fieldExperience: 2 or more years of management experience3 years of experience in water, gas, and, electric meter installation project managementDesired Skills:Ability to multi-task and work independently as well as a teamExceptional flexibility in daily routinesExcellent time management skillsExcellent communication skills, comfortable interacting management and customersAbility to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional mannerExcellent attention to detail for problem solving and findingProven leadership and team management skillsStrong knowledge with Microsoft 360 (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)OfficeEmployees will begin their day at the local office where they will pick up their company vehicle, equipment, and assignments for the day.Additional:Department & Division: OperationsExempt Status*: ExemptReports to: Operations ManagerWorks with Inside Company:* Field Operations TeamsWorks with Outside Company:* Customers and government officials, as necessaryWorking Conditions:* All outdoor and indoor conditionsSupervisor Responsibilities:* Supervises the Meter Services Supervisors and Project ManagersPhysical Requirements:Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of timeRepeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingersWork that includes moving objects up to 50 lbs.Communication with others to exchange information.
