Staff Accountant
We’re looking for a Staff Accountant to provide our business leaders with pro-active financial and operational information and analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement. This person will be expected to execute month end close journal entries and reconciliations, sales and use tax transaction review and filings, manage inventory and related entries, and maintain effective internal controls. They must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and be comfortable interacting at all levels of management.What You’ll DoPrepare and file sales/use tax returns for a variety of statesPrepare and file state tax registrationsSupport new state account setup for Secretary of State and Sales and Use Tax, working with HR and Legal and third party providersRespond to and promptly resolve state sales tax noticesMaintain updated tax return filing calendarsComplete annual 1099 tax return filings, specific state property tax and commercial activity filings, annual net profit returns and occupational tax returnsManage inventory accounting, including reconciliations and variance analysis, cost of goods sold analysis, inventory reserves and countsMonth-End journal entries and reconciliations related to job costing, intercompany allocations, leases, internal commissions, and incentive unitsMonth-End journal entries for our Canadian entityManage and support local licensing and insurance for specific job requirements and related filingsSupport finance team related to fixed assets, prepaids, commissions, insurance, bonding, including board reportingMaintain and improve internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial recordsKeep abreast of technology and identify tools that can help streamline workflowSupport annual external audit and tax return preparationProvide support to the finance team as neededPerform other duties as assignedThe Experience We’re Looking For2+ years’ experience in finance and business industryExperience in a services business preferredKnowledge of GAAP and financial processesIntermediate Excel skills requiredStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysesExceptional communication and presentation skills, with a strong customer focus and the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiencesExcellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills, demonstrating a capacity for managing multiple priorities and driving project successAdditional RequirementsBachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institutionAbility to travel up to 25% throughout the continental USA, reflecting flexibility and commitment to project needs.Ability to pass a stringent drug screening and background check, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and policies.Hold a valid and current driver's license.Bonus Points ForExperience managing business insurance, bonds, or external financial platformsExposure to project-based accounting or energy-sector financial operationsWhy Join RMS EnergyWe’re not just another power services company.
