Sentara Health has an extensive workforce of nearly 30,000 employees and provides a broad range of healthcare services.About the RoleThe Senior Process Improvement Engineer – Acute Care is a full-time, day-shift position supporting Sentara Health's Acute Care Operations Improvement team. The role focuses on identifying, analyzing, and optimizing healthcare operational processes to improve efficiency, quality, productivity, resource utilization, and the overall consumer experience. The successful candidate will use data-driven improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, process mapping, workflow redesign, and process optimization. The position also involves mentoring other Process Improvement Engineers, leading cross-functional teams, and working closely with department leaders to implement sustainable improvements.ResponsibilitiesIdentify and analyze operational processes and opportunities for improvement.Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.Redesign workflows to reduce waste and improve efficiency.Lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives.Develop and implement strategies aligned with organizational goals.Monitor improvement outcomes and ensure sustainability.Mentor and train other Process Improvement Engineers.Analyze operational data and performance metrics.Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management.Partner with department leaders and cross-functional teams throughout improvement initiatives.QualificationsBachelor's degree required.Industrial Engineering is preferred.Required SkillsMinimum 5 years of experience in process improvement engineering and process mapping.Experience with workflow redesign, labor management, productivity improvement, change management, project management, and data analysis is preferred.Experience with Vizient benchmarking is also preferred.Preferred SkillsExperience or certification in areas such as:Lean Six SigmaRapid ImprovementReengineeringProcess RedesignContinuous Quality Improvement (CQI)Business DevelopmentBenchmarkingProductivity ImprovementTechnology BreakthroughsProsci/change managementStrong analytical, communication, leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills are important for success in this role.Pay range and compensation packageSentara Health offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, parental and family caregiver leave, disability coverage, life insurance, 401(k)/403(b) with employer matching, tuition assistance, student debt support, certification reimbursement, professional development opportunities, pet insurance, and legal resources.
