Student-Athlete Coach, Sports Academy - $60,000/year USD
This role is designed for someone who can coach student-athletes—not teach them. You won't write lesson plans, deliver content, or assign grades. Instead, you'll focus on the part of coaching that drives real change: building trust, establishing accountability, and helping individuals exceed their own expectations.Texas Sports Academy operates a virtual program in which student-athletes progress through self-directed academic applications while simultaneously developing life skills and athletic discipline. Your cohort will meet with you weekly in virtual 1:1 and small-group formats. You'll help them set priorities, maintain accountability, and identify early signs of disengagement. The effectiveness of your sessions depends entirely on your presence and ability to build trust—not on the material students are working through independently. The role centers on three core activities: conducting coaching sessions that maintain student momentum, intervening proactively when progress data reveals a concern, and facilitating structured virtual workshops focused on mindset and life skills. This is a fully remote position based in Texas, requiring quarterly in-person attendance at events in Austin, Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio. If you've worked with students or athletes and found the most rewarding moments came when someone broke through a self-imposed barrier, this role is worth your consideration. What You Will Be DoingFacilitating virtual 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions to help student-athletes establish priorities, maintain accountability, and sustain engagementReviewing progress data from learning platforms to detect disengagement or academic gaps earlyStepping in directly when a student loses momentum—adapting your methods, restoring energy, and supporting recoveryFacilitating structured virtual workshops on personal development, life skills, and mindset, using active participation as your success metricDeveloping trust with each student-athlete so that accountability discussions feel natural and constructive, not forcedWhat You Won’t Be DoingTeaching curriculum or delivering academic instruction—students progress through self-directed applications; your role centers on engagement and executionCreating lesson plans, grading assignments, or managing course frameworksWaiting for students to raise concerns—you'll analyze data and take the first stepConducting sessions where attendance is present but engagement is absentStudent-Athlete Coach Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure virtual student-athletes remain engaged, advance academically, and develop the life skills necessary for success beyond their academic experience.Basic RequirementsYou have experience coaching or mentoring students or athletes, whether paid or volunteerYou have facilitated group sessions for students or athletes for a minimum of 6 monthsYou have worked in a position where goal-setting and outcome tracking were part of your responsibilities—and you have measurable results to demonstrate it (such as completion rates, performance improvements, or similar metrics)You are proficient in running virtual sessions using Zoom, Google Meet, or Teams, and have experience using a spreadsheet, LMS, or comparable tool to monitor participant progressYou have used an AI tool—such as Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity, or similar—at least once and can describe the use caseYou are located in Texas and able to attend one in-person event per quarter in Austin, Dallas, Houston, or San AntonioYou are authorized to work in the US without requiring visa sponsorshipNice-to-have RequirementsFamiliarity with learning management systems (such as Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, or similar) or tools used to track academic progressAbility to adjust your coaching style to match different motivation profiles—recognizing when to challenge, when to ease back, and when to simply listenAbout Sports AcademyTexas Sports Academy is Where Future Champions Excel in Academics and AthleticsTraditional schools force student-athletes to choose between excelling in academics or committing to their sport.
