Property Accountant (Low-Income Housing Experience)Location: New York, NY (Hybrid/Onsite)Compensation: $90,000 - $94,700 + Full BenefitsA well-established, mission-driven real estate organization is seeking a Real Estate Finance Supervisor to join its growing finance team. This individual will play a key leadership role overseeing general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and team management within a complex real estate portfolio.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with low-income housing / LIHTC experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, impact-driven environment while managing and developing staff.Key Responsibilities:Oversee general ledger accounting and ensure timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportingManage and mentor a team of accounting professionals (including senior staff)Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and reporting packages for internal stakeholdersSupport budgeting, forecasting, and property performance analysis in partnership with Asset ManagementLead annual audits, funder reporting, and compliance processesReview month-end close packages, including bank reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and GAAP adjustmentsMonitor cash activity, escrow/reimbursement submissions, and funding drawsReview leases, maintain lease schedules, and support year-end obligationsEnsure compliance with partnership agreements, loan covenants, and LIHTC regulationsAssist in preparing GAAP financial statements and footnote disclosuresQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)5+ years of real estate accounting experience, with a focus on affordable housing / LIHTC3+ years of supervisory or team leadership experienceStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAPExperience with Yardi requiredAdvanced Excel skills; proficiency in Word and PowerPointExperience with construction/development accounting is a plusStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionallyExperience developing or improving accounting policies and proceduresWhy Join:Mission-driven organization with strong community impactStable, established real estate platformOpportunity to lead and develop a teamExposure to complex, high-impact real estate finance operationsBenefits Include:Medical, Dental, and Vision coveragePrescription coverageLife insuranceRetirement planTuition reimbursementGenerous PTO, including a birthday holidayFor an immediate response, please send your resume to jcanabal@ascendo.comAscendo is a certified minority owned staffing firm, and we welcome and celebrate diversity.
