The Division includes more than 20 faculty and Advanced Practice Providers representing the full breadth of gastroenterology and hepatology specialties. Faculty practices across four hospitals – Galveston, League City, Clear Lake, and Angleton Danbury – providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, advanced endoscopic are, multidisciplinary management of complex liver disease. Our ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology Fellowship Program trains nine fellows across three years, offering a broad and rigorous curriculum supported by committed faculty mentors and diverse clinical experiences. The Division also plays an active role in medical student and resident education, contributing to the academic mission of the institution.Position Summary UTMB is seeking a full-time physician at the rank of Assistant and Associate Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. These positions emphasizes high-quality clinical care, active participation in teaching, and engagement in the academic mission of the department. Successful candidates will join a team of faculty dedicated to providing exceptional gastroenterology care, advancing clinical education, and contributing to scholarly and quality improvement initiatives.Essential Responsibilities The following bullets reflect general responsibilities for faculty working in the department of gastroenterology and hepatology. Detailed roles and responsibilities may vary for each individual position.Provide comprehensive outpatient and/or inpatient gastroenterology or hepatology care. Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and didactic settings. Engage in departmental and divisional quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including surgery, oncology, radiology, and nutrition—for optimal patient outcomes. Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills training, and other academic programs.Minimum Qualifications MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.Preferred Qualifications Experience in an academic medical center or teaching environment. Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, clinical research, quality improvement projects, or curriculum development.
