Automotive Service Advisor

An Automotive Service Advisor sells and schedules needed service work in the service department. Employee discounts. Referral bonus program. This is a commission based position with the potential to earn up to $120,000 per year. Essential duties include scheduling service appointments. Obtaining customer and vehicle data prior to arrival when possible. Greeting customers in a timely, friendly manner and obtaining vehicle information. Writing up customer's vehicle problems accurately and clearly on repair order. Test driving the vehicle with customer as needed to confirm the problem or refers to test technician. Referring to service history, inspecting vehicle, and recommending additional needed service. Advising customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturers' specifications. Providing a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts. Establishing "promised time." Checking with dispatcher, if necessary. Obtaining customer's signature on repair order; providing customer with a copy. Establishing customer's method of payment. Obtaining credit approval, if necessary. Notifying dispatcher of incoming work. Checking on progress of repair throughout the day. Contacting customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time, explaining cost and time requirements in detail, and getting proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed. Implementing and maintaining a service marketing program. Reviewing repair orders to ensure that work is completed, and additional work and authorization is noted. Closing repair order as appropriate. Ensuring that vehicles are parked in assigned areas. Making sure they are locked and all keys are marked and put away correctly. Keeping service department forms, menus and pricing guides up-to-date. Explaining completed work and all charges to customers. Implementing a quality control process to eliminate comebacks. Maintaining high customer satisfaction standards. Inspecting all vehicles for body work, informing customer if work is needed, and providing an estimate for body work. Marginal duties include being a team player, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effective communicator, and other duties as assigned. Driving is an essential function of this position. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record consistent with company insurance standards throughout employment.
