The P.E. teacher is accountable to the principal and expected to provide education to the grades assigned, to implement the school mission and philosophy, to follow the policies of the school and diocese, and adhere to the directives set by the school administration.Essential Functions: The P.E. teacher establishes a faith-filled environment, demonstrates leadership and knowledge of the physical education and health curriculum, and facilitates learning for students using good judgement.General Responsibilities• As part of the educational ministry of the school, participates in school liturgies• Maintains effective classroom management and cultivates an atmosphere conducive to learning• Confers with principal and staff in the planning and development of curriculum and pedagogy• Provides engaging, fun, and effective instruction that helps build a health and wellness foundation for children• Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness and health education utilizing appropriate learning activities• Provides maximum participation for all students; differentiates as needed to ensure all students experience success• Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.• Develops engaging and effective lesson plans and supplementary materials• Actively participates in teacher collaboration and articulation• Organizes and prepares resources for students• Participates in ongoing training• Exhibits flexibility in the day-to-day school environment• Communicates professionally and in a timely manner with pastor, principal, colleagues, parents, and students• Supervises and accepts responsibility for the safety and well-being of each child as assigned• Plans and grade lessons, as well as other P.E.-related assessments• Stays current with state and local standards for physical education curriculum, fitness, and nutrition expectations• Works with students individually when necessary to assess fitness and health progress, improve performance levels, and achieve overall physical education success
