Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician The Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all mining equipment and machinery used in sand mining operations. This role ensures equipment operates safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with heavy equipment, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems in an industrial or mining environment. Key roles and responsibilities include: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on mining and processing equipment including conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, and heavy machinery. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to identify and resolve malfunctions quickly. Maintain accurate service logs, repair records, and parts inventories. Assist with equipment installation, modification, and commissioning of new machinery. Respond to equipment breakdowns promptly, minimizing operational downtime. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency. Recommend and implement improvements to machinery and equipment based on observed performance issues. Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives. Required education, experience, and qualifications include: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred. Proven experience as a Field Service Technician or Maintenance Technician in mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments. Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills. Ability to read schematics, technical manuals, and equipment diagrams. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Valid driver's license; ability to operate company vehicles and heavy equipment. Ability to work in outdoor environments and in physically demanding conditions. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team. Working conditions include: Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time. The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying. Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc. Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed. React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet. Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions. Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed. Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
