Description: Experienced level of professional purchasing activities, typically requiring a bachelor’s degree in business and 5 years of experience, or equivalent. Incumbents at this level have the authority to purchase at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, delivery and other factors, raw materials, equipment, machinery and/or supplies for the operation of the organization. Primary Responsibilities: Identifies and researches commodities to be ordered, and sources these to vendors for bid. Obtains quotes, reviews and places orders. May work directly in support of operations and in collaboration with department managers, engineers, or manufacturing staff. Analyzes current vendors’ performance along with seeking and developing new ones. Understands multi-job scheduling, and coordinate products arrival within timeframes. Travel is required when necessary to secure new vendors or check the status of current orders. Required Qualifications: Attention to detail and good organizational skills Able to work independently Handles most complex issues and problems Advanced computer skills required Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position or role Salary commensurate with skills and experience Preferred: Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment Experience of shop practices and equipment Experience using ERP management system Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, symbols, and bills of material Condition of Employment: Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
