Facilities Supervisor - 3rd Shift
Overview: The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of all equipment, machinery, and facility service, ensuring efficient and safe operations. The individual will manage a team of Facilities Technicians, Maintenance Mechanics, Material Handling Equipment Mechanics, and Automation Technicians. The position is responsible for the management of preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures and company policies.Responsibilities:Lead daily shift activities for facilities and maintenance crews; assign tasks, conduct shift briefings and ensure safe execution of prioritized work.Supervise facilities technicians performing building repairs, electrical maintenance, plumbing, painting, carpentry, door and hardware repairs and general facility upkeep.Coordinate preventive maintenance and reactive repairs for heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, refrigeration support systems, boilers, steam systems and compressed air networks.Oversee building electrical distribution tasks including lighting maintenance, panel servicing, receptacle and motor circuits and coordination of electrical contractors for major work.Manage plumbing and water systems maintenance including sanitary piping, drain lines, hot water distribution, pumps and process water supports.Maintain building envelope and structural components including roofing, doors, windows, dock areas, flooring and insulation repairs to preserve environmental control and food safety requirements.Supervise routine and emergency maintenance of fire protection support items such as emergency lighting, egress signage and life safety hardware and coordinate with fire safety specialists for system testing and repairs.Schedule and inspect work performed by third party contractors and vendors for roofing, painting, mechanical and specialty services; ensure work quality, safety compliance and contract adherence.Maintain preventive maintenance schedules, assign work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System, track completion and ensure accurate documentation of repairs and parts usage.Inspect facility areas regularly to identify hazards, building deterioration and deferred maintenance needs; generate work plans and cost estimates for approval.Manage spare parts and small tools inventory needs for facilities work, coordinate with the Parts and Inventory Administrator for stock replenishment and special-order items.Train, mentor and coach facilities staff on safe work practices, equipment operation, lockout tagout procedures and preventive maintenance tasks.Enforce adherence to food safety protocols during maintenance activities including sanitary practices, segregation of work areas and contamination prevention.Participate in incident response for facility emergencies including water intrusion, HVAC failures, electrical outages and coordinate containment, repairs and documentation.Prepare and deliver regular reports on building condition, open work orders, recurring issues and recommended capital projects to the Facilities Manager.Collaboration and Communication:* Collaborating with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime and optimize production processes.* Communicating effectively with all levels of the organization.Administrative & Reporting Duties:Monitor maintenance budgets and controlling costs.Assisting with departmental budget estimates.Prepare reports and updates for leadership regarding project progress and facilities-related initiatives.Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Required Qualifications:5+ years of hands-on facilities maintenance experience including building trades and mechanical systems or equivalent supervisory experience.Demonstrated ability to lead small teams, schedule work and manage contractors in an industrial environment.Practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioning and refrigeration support systems sufficient to supervise, assign and verify work.Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills and ability to prepare basic cost estimates and maintenance plans.Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and ability to use a Computerized Maintenance Management System for work order management and documentation.Experience working in regulated environments such as food processing preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Must be able to multi-task and work independently as well as contribute to the overall success of the team.Preferred Qualifications:* FMP preferred, OSHA 30, EPA 608 Universal, CMMS proficiency, preventive and corrective maintenance experience, basic refrigeration and HVAC knowledge, ability to read simple MEP drawings, strong troubleshooting skills, shift leadership experience, bilingual English and Spanish.Typical equipment and systems: Building heating ventilation and air conditioning units, refrigeration support equipment, electrical distribution panels and motor control centers, pumps and piping systems, boilers and steam generation equipment, compressed air systems, dock doors and levelers, roofing and building envelope components, hand and power tools, lift equipment and mobile work platforms.Physical demands and working conditions:Frequent walking, climbing ladders and stairs, working at heights and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs., with assistance.Work in production environments with noise, moving equipment, temperature-controlled areas and occasional exposure to dust and chemicals.On call for building emergencies and available to support weekend or night work for critical repairs and projects.Ability to work extended hours as needed.Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the responsibilities.
