Founding Engineer
About REONREON360 is the LinkedIn home of REON, a property inspection intelligence platform for commercial real estate. Designed for lenders, servicers, asset managers, and other institutional stakeholders, REON transforms onsite observations into structured, actionable information for decision-makers. The platform connects the inspection lifecycle—from coordination and field execution through reporting, tracking, and property-level intelligence—in one connected environment.REON supports agency and conventional inspection workflows while creating a more useful property record over time. Through REON Pro, we also facilitate third-party multifamily property inspections, combining technology with qualified field execution. REON Pro is preparing to launch inspection services in Illinois in the coming months, with additional markets planned. Our vision is simple: An inspection shouldn't just produce another report. It should build a deeper understanding of the asset over time. The OpportunityThe product is already in development. The foundation is there. What comes next is where it gets interesting. We're looking for a Founding Engineer who loves to build! Someone energized by taking a real-world problem, figuring out how technology can solve it, and actually shipping the solution. This isn't a role where you'll inherit a backlog and spend your time working through tickets someone else prioritized. You'll have a real voice in what we build, how we build it, and what REON ultimately becomes. You'll work across our web and mobile platform, APIs, integrations, data infrastructure, and automation. You'll help architect core systems, build features end-to-end, integrate third-party services and data sources, and establish the technical standards that will support REON as it scales. There is also significant opportunity ahead around AI-enabled workflows and turning property-level observations into increasingly valuable intelligence. Our current stack includes React/Next.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, and AWS. But we're early. The architecture isn't sacred, the roadmap isn't set in stone, and we want the right engineer challenging assumptions and helping make the decisions.Who We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone with 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated experience, who can move from: "Here's the problem we're trying to solve." to: "Here's how I think we should build it."You don't need to check every box across the stack. We're more interested in how you think, what you've built, and whether you're the kind of person who takes ownership and makes things happen. You may be a strong fit if you have experience with:Building and shipping scalable web applications, mobile applications, or APIsModern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks, ideally including React or Next.jsBackend development, databases, integrations, and cloud infrastructureTranslating real customer and business needs into thoughtful technical solutionsWorking independently and making practical architectural decisionsEarly-stage products where requirements evolve and resourcefulness mattersExperience in commercial real estate, financial technology, data products, automation, or AI-enabled workflows is helpful, but not required. You'll work directly with the founding team, hear the problems we're hearing from the market, and have the autonomy to help turn those problems into product.Structure and GrowthThis is currently a flexible, part-time, equity-based opportunity with no base salary initially. It is designed for an experienced engineer who wants to help build something meaningful without immediately leaving their current role.As REON grows and raises capital, there is a path to a paid, senior technical position; with the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the product, technical direction, and engineering organization around you.If you love building but wish you had more say in what gets built, this might be for you. We're not looking for someone to simply write code. We're looking for someone who wants to help build a company.Interested? Send a brief introduction, your technical background, and something you've built that you're proud of to info@reon360.com.
