As a team member at DuPage County, you will also have access to time off with pay on Designated Holidays or holiday pay if required to work, Vacation time, Sick time and Paid Leave.To learn more about the cost and coverage of the benefits plan, visitFor detailed information on paid time off, visit , Section 5DuPage County is an Equal Opportunity EmployerRESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all the duties and responsibilities performed by positions in this class.Coordinates and completes the bi-weekly payroll process for the CountyMaintains recordkeeping and payroll policiesPrepares and executes system required reportsCreates personnel/payroll data and tax records within the Dayforce systemRecords and balances payroll withholding taxesVerifies and maintains information concerning accrualsEnsures and maintains employee and elected official compensation from appropriate documentation (e.g. payroll documents, contracts and resolutions)Trains and instructs employees in proper payroll proceduresMaintains and updates annual tax forms related to payrollAdministers employee benefit plans and programsActs as a liaison with benefit providers and employeesCoordinates the annual open enrollment processMaintain up to date records of employee benefit informationParticipates in benefit orientation for new employeesImplements union contract provisions to ensure pay and benefits into the Dayforce systemReviews and verifies output of workUpdates or drafts County payroll and benefit policies for compliance with federal/state regulations, and reporting requirementsResolves payroll and benefit discrepanciesResolves benefit issues with billing and eligibilityResponds to inquiries and requests from County employee's regarding payroll and benefit information and processesCompiles, analyzes, and reconciles (e.g. financial and statistical data) and generates reportsPrepares verbal and written communications for a variety of benefit and payroll programsUpdates management staff on payroll and benefit related personnel and operational issues (e.g. payroll deadlines, open enrollment, changes to payroll/benefit procedures)Provides back up for all other payroll & benefit staff membersREQUIREMENTS INCLUDEEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCECompletion of an Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in administering compensation/payroll or benefits programs; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.A passing score on skills tests in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Payroll required.A pre-employment background check is required.Physical Requirements and Work EnvironmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
