Associate Development Manager- Cyber/Data/Privacy Group
Overview
In this role you will support associate staffing, utilization, integration and development within the Professional Development team in a leading law firm. You will partner with practice group leadership to allocate work, monitor workloads and advance associate performance and growth. You’ll drive onboarding, coaching, and feedback cycles, while aligning development with firm goals and client needs. The position offers the chance to influence talent strategy, diversity initiatives, and professional education at scale.

ResponsibilitiesManage work allocation for associates with practice group leaders and staffing partnersMonitor workloads and associate development; allocate new matters to balance assignments and goalsTrack and analyze associate metrics (availability, utilization) and support productivity targetsCoordinate staffing needs with leadership and Legal Talent to support hiring targetsSupport the associate performance review process and ensure timely quality reviewsFacilitate feedback, coaching and mentoring based on review outcomesIdentify high performers and address challenges with mentoring and trainingLead onboarding and integration efforts; conduct exit interviews to inform improvementsCollaborate on development programs, training, and continuing legal education alignmentPartner with Talent, Compliance, Licensing, and Diversity teams to support licensure, culture and inclusion initiativesPromote wellness initiatives via HR/Wellness collaborationsPerform other duties as assigned or required
Key requirements5+ years of staffing/work allocation experience in a large law firm or professional services environment (or 5+ years combined law firm PD and related experience)Senior-level candidates: 7+ years with 2+ years of management experienceProficiency in Microsoft Office and iManage; ability to adapt to firm applicationsAbility to travel and work extended/weekend hours as neededStrong collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skillsDiscretion with confidential information and effective people management abilitiesProactive, detail-oriented, organized with ownership and teamwork abilitiesstrong interpersonal skillseffective written and verbal communicationconfidentiality and discretionMicrosoft Office suiteiManagefirm applications
