SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESProficient in English (written and verbal skills)Demonstrate working knowledge of the National Electrical Code, The Uniform Fire Code NFPA 72, International Fire Code and the ability to interpret blueprints and electronic schematicsExperience with various types of Fire Alarm SystemsMS Windows experience, proficiency in Word/Excel and systems software application PREFERRED KNOWLEDGECourses completed on Low Voltage ElectronicsProgramming and working knowledge of Silent Knight and Farenhyt Fire Alarm system preferred. Function The Fire Alarm Technician shall be responsible for the Install, Maintenance and programming of fire alarm systems and components district wide. They will perform annual fire alarm system inspections per NFPA and IFC codes as adopted by the AHJ. They will also service and install Security, Access control, and Camera Systems as needed. Reports To: Manager, Security and Life Safety Systems Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSInstalls, tests, configures, troubleshoots and repairs fire and security alarm components.Performs both routine and preventative maintenance on life safety equipment and devices and oversees local and federal system testing.Reviews drawings for new construction and remodel work concerning fire safety systems.Escorts and oversees vendors performing installations, maintenance, and repairs of life safety systems.Assist on low voltage system installations and maintenance.Maintains licenses, certifications, and training of the most current technologies.Consults with department Manager in planning and installing equipmentAssists with specialized projects to integrate, repair, or update systems.Maintains documents and files related to duties.Regular and punctual attendance is required.Performs other related duties as required. WORKING CONDITIONSMaintain emotional control under stress.Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.Lifts 10-40 pounds frequently, 40-75 pounds occasionally, more than 75 pounds infrequently, climbs ladders, works in high places, works in cramped quarters and under buildings, distinguishes primary colors, works in inclement weather (hot, cold, dry, and damp), walks, stands, kneels, stoops, bends, and squats for prolonged times.Must be able to work with potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner and safely perform required duties in potentially hazardous environments.Normal shift is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Each employee will be scheduled to work different shifts and be "on call" outside the normal shift.
