Position SummaryThe Boiler Operator reports to the Chief Boiler Operator and is based out of our Seabrook, New Jersey location. This individual will be responsible for supporting continuous boiler and wastewater treatment operations through equipment monitoring and laboratory analysis. A thorough understanding of basic chemistry, intermediate mathematics, industrial mechanics, and safe work practices is required.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential Functions Of The Job)Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Responsibilities IncludeKnowledge of boiler operations and ability to comprehend wastewater treatment operationsUnderstand and comply with plant safety rules and requirements that include proper Machine Guarding Safety, Lock Out/Tag Out Procedures, Hazard Communication, Fork-Lift Safety, Personal Protection Equipment, Confined Space Entry, etc.Perform periodic inspections and record data as assigned per shiftCollect samples for analysis as assigned per shiftMake necessary adjustments to equipment to ensure proper operating proceduresKeep an accurate and legible log of daily activitiesMust acquire a “Blue Seal” NJ license in boiler operations within 1 year of employmentMay be required to troubleshoot equipment and make repairs to PVC piping, pumps, boilers, air compressors, etc.Perform other related duties as required and assignedEducation And ExperienceMinimum Required Qualifications (Blue Seal, Grade VI M)Current “Blue Seal” NJ High-Pressure boiler operator’s license requiredA high school diploma or GEDPreviously held “Black Seal” License with minimum 6 months experience working with equipment over 500 boiler horsepower, high pressureMust successfully complete and pass forklift safety trainingOperational knowledge of boilers, air compressors and pumpsMinimum Required Qualifications (Red Seal, Grade VII)Current “Red Seal” NJ High-Pressure boiler operator’s license requiredPreviously held “Blue Seal” License for a minimum of 1 year, including experience with equipment that is over 1,000 boiler horsepower, high pressureA high school diploma or GEDMust successfully complete and pass forklift safety trainingOperational knowledge of boilers, air compressors and pumpsAdditional Preferred QualificationsExperience in the food/beverage industry Previous experience in Manufacturing or production environment Ability to direct, coach, and train othersConsultative, influential, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.Physical Requirements & Working ConditionsThis position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.VISION: Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines and exhaust fans.
