Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role We are looking for a talented and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our hybrid team in Boston. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge of building services systems across a portfolio of ground‑breaking projects in the U.S. and globally. Responsibilities Provide electrical design expertise to clients in a wide variety of contexts Support business development activity for the asset consultancy discipline and wider practice where appropriate Develop strategic, technically based reports and plans to present directly to clients and end‑users Prepare condition surveys, forward maintenance plans, dilapidation schedules, defect analyses, system diagnostics reports, schedules of condition and monitoring of the subsequent works processes Provide business, technical, maintenance, operational and energy audits and, or studies based upon conventional and alternative energy sources for individual or groups of buildings Demonstrate awareness of sustainable construction, operations and maintenance Prepare Employer’s Requirements and Developer’s Specifications for new buildings, building refurbishment, renovation, remodeling, engineering services and allied systems and the monitoring of project works Organise resources and ensure that services and projects are carried out to an agreed programme and within budget Contribute to Buro Happold‑wide initiatives with respect to technical development, market sectors and processes Skills and Experience 5+ years’ experience of electrical engineering design in the building services and construction industry Experience working on projects in Higher Education, Science and Tech, Museums, Commercial, Transportation Hubs and/or Stadiums Relevant bachelor or master’s degree Professional Engineer (P.E.) desirable LEED AP accredited preferred Experience using Revit Familiarity using computational analysis tools such as electrical fault analysis and lighting design software Excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems; ability to investigate, identify and provide solutions to technical problems Excellent client‑facing and communication skills (verbal and written), with experience presenting to ‘c‑suite’ level stakeholders Experience in the preparation of technical reports for delivery direct to a client audience Ability to problem solve and propose multiple solutions to clients and objectively summarise the benefits and shortfalls of each What We Offer Salary range of $90,000 to $120,000, adjusted for location, skills, education, and experience Generous benefits package Annual discretionary bonus Generous PTO (4 weeks) in addition to 10 paid holidays 401(k) with company match Hybrid working and summer hours Reimbursement for certain professional licenses and associated renewals and exam fees Connection to a global network of experts on industry initiatives Access to wide-ranging learning and development opportunities Participation in diversity and inclusion forums and employee resource groups Location Boston, MA – hybrid; occasional travel may be required.
