Job DescriptionThe Lead Game Server Developer (Java) will design, build, and maintain backend services that power Caesars Digital real-money proprietary casino game clients. This role is responsible for developing secure, scalable server-side systems that integrate directly with the Caesars in house RGS and Caesars platform services to support game functionality, transactional flows, and live operations.The ideal candidate brings strong Java backend expertise and experience building distributed, transactional systems. This role will partner closely with client engineers, math/design, platform providers, and compliance teams to ensure all games operate reliably and meet regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.This position sits within the internal Caesars game studio and plays a critical role in enabling proprietary game development, launch readiness, and long-term live operations supportResponsibilitiesBackend & Server DevelopmentArchitect, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services supporting Caesars iGaming clientsBuild and maintain server-side logic enabling game client communication with the Caesars RGSImplement secure transactional flows including wager placement, outcomes, wallet interactions, and promotional featuresDevelop APIs and service layers supporting game features, jackpots, bonusing, and tournamentsEnsure high availability, scalability, and reliability of backend systems supporting live real-money gameplayWrite clean, scalable, well-documented production-ready codeRGS & Caesars Platform IntegrationImplement and maintain integrations with RGS for game state, outcomes, and reportingPartner with Caesars platform teams on wallet, PAM, and promotional system integrationsSupport game launch readiness including environment configuration and certification supportTroubleshoot and resolve integration issues between game clients, RGS, and platform servicesMonitor server-side performance and transactional integrity in production environmentsArchitecture & Technical ExcellenceDesign backend architecture that supports extensibility across multiple game titlesChampion best practices in Java backend development, security, and performance optimizationConduct code reviews and maintain high engineering standards across the studioImplement logging, monitoring, and alerting to ensure system stabilitySupport CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes across development and production environmentsCollaboration & Studio SupportWork closely with client engineers to support feature development and integrationPartner with product, math, and design teams to implement game features and promotional mechanicsCollaborate with QA and compliance teams to support testing and regulatory submissionsParticipate in sprint planning, technical design reviews, and release planningProvide backend technical input into roadmap and feature feasibilityInnovation & Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to streamline integrations and improve launch efficiencyEvaluate new backend technologies and tools to enhance studio capabilitiesStay current on iGaming platform standards, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologiesContribute to a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvementQualificationsTechnical SkillsStrong proficiency in Java backend development (Spring Boot or similar frameworks preferred)Experience building RESTful APIs and real-time service integrationsExperience integrating with external platforms and transactional systemsFamiliarity with cloud environments (AWS preferred)Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and caching solutionsUnderstanding of secure transactional systems and authentication protocolsExperience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern development workflowsFamiliarity with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes preferred)Education & BackgroundBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years backend/server engineering experienceExperience supporting real-time transactional or gaming systems strongly preferrediGaming or RGS experience highly preferredProfessional SkillsStrong debugging and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to operate in fast-paced, milestone-driven environmentExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsHighly organized with strong attention to detailSelf-motivated and effective in a remote work environmentPassion for real-money gaming and technology innovationAdditional RequirementsMust be able to sit for extended periods of timeMust be able to type and talk on the phone for extended periods of timeFully remote, work-from-home roleMust be comfortable working across distributed teams and time zonesPeriodic travel may be required for team collaboration or studio planning sessionsThe salary range for this position is $83,702.00 - $120,000.00 USD, which is dependent on a several factors including relevant experience, geography, business needs and market demand. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses.
