Basic - Carpenter
This position is responsible to provide operational support in reconstruction efforts for clients. Qualified candidates must be well grounded in fundamentals of carpentry and tool usage. Their primary learning mode is OJT through experience and interaction with intermediate and advance carpenters. Basic Carpenters have three development levels; (1) improve supervisory skills from small unskilled labor crews to larger crews that include BELFOR personnel and skilled subcontractors; (2) become increasingly competent with carpenter tools and BELFOR equipment; and (3) develop a basic understanding of field operation tasks specific to restoration industry. This position is the level 2 in the Progressive Carpenter track.ResponsibilitiesMust be able to take direction from experienced carpenter and supervisorMove and protect contents without damageConstruct appropriate containment for construction dust, dirt and airborne contaminant in working areaUsing appropriate tools and accepted BELFOR methods, perform tasks related to floodcutting, salvaging and labeling baseboards, cabinets, doors, etcDevelop full material knowledge as it relates to types, purposes, grades and uses for trims, doors, cabinetryDevelop proficiency in installation of various forms of insulationDevelop under supervision knowledge of Framing, Trim installation, cabinetry installationDevelop under supervision ability to "dry-in" a building as it relates to roofing material installationLearn and understand MSDS protocols for chemicals used during mitigation processesPerform Daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections and maintain in clean serviceable conditionMust maintain attention to detailWill be required to meet BELFOR Standards in safeguarding other people's propertyMust have a comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practicesWork under time constraints to meet specific timelinesWill be required to work nights and weekends as requested and travel periodicallyReport time worked and equipment and consumables used timely and accuratelyAttend BELFOR sponsored operations and safety training courses as requiredRequirementsCoordinating a small crew of unskilled laborers on most residential projectsAnswer simple questions about the project and when to defer questions to more qualified personnelMaintaining equipment used in daily tasksPerform emergency services as needed - - IE Board Ups, securing building against further damageAdditional other duties as requiredDisclaimerThe statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees, and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
