Certified Application Counselor

General Description The Certified Application Counselor will be responsible for conducting outreach to uninsured Nevadans who may qualify for free or subsidized health insurance. This position will also work closely with community health organizations to facilitate the distribution of vaccine education material and information. The Nevada State Immunization Program is seeking two (2) candidates to fill this position. This is a full-time contract position with the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health’s Immunization Program. This position is grant-funded through December 31, 2024. Please note that contracted positions do not receive State of Nevada employee benefits (i.e., paid time off and health insurance). One (1) position is located in Carson City, Nevada and will serve Northern Nevada. •* *One (1) position is located in Las Vegas, Nevada and will serve Southern Nevada. Local and statewide travel is a requirement of this position. Monday – Friday; 8am – 5pm or other agreed upon arrangement that equals a 40-hour week. Must have a reliable mode of personal transportation. Responsibilities and Standards Community outreach to areas with high populations of uninsured Nevadans. Provide counseling on free and subsidized health insurance applications for uninsured Nevadans. Work closely with community health organizations to increase vaccine confidence among Nevadans. Report outcomes to program manager and assist with reports to the CDC. Requirements (Education, experience and/or professional licensure) Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications, or closely related field and two years of professional experience. Preferred experience working in public health or healthcare. This position requires the regular operation of a motor vehicle during the course and scope of employment as an essential function of the job. Candidates must complete the following within the first 45 days of appointment (associated fees will be paid for by the Program): Fingerprinting/Background check. Complete the Nevada Health Link training course. Complete Certified Application Coordinator Pre-licensing course. Pass the state certification exam. Submit certification application to the Department of Insurance.
