DevOps Engineer

DevOps Consultant (GitHub Actions Focus) Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) Engagement: Contract Pay Rate: Up to $80/hr (C2C) or $75/hr (W2) Client: Major Financial FirmWe are seeking a DevOps Consultant to support a high-impact engineering initiative focused on enabling developers to build applications faster, easier, and more securely. This role requires a hands-on engineer with strong DevOps expertise and a deep specialization in GitHub Actions, including open-source contributions.You will work closely with engineering, platform, and business teams to design and deliver scalable DevOps solutions while driving best practices across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop secure, scalable, and high-quality DevOps solutionsBuild and optimize CI/CD pipelines, with a strong emphasis on GitHub ActionsParticipate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teamsEngage stakeholders in technical discussions and architectural decision-makingPartner with business stakeholders to gather feedback and refine featuresEvaluate and integrate third-party tools and platforms into the DevOps ecosystemIdentify risks, troubleshoot issues, and propose scalable solutionsPromote DevOps best practices, automation, and continuous improvementRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Actions, including contributions to open-source projects on GitHubExperience designing and building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CloudBeesProficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Shell, or GroovyExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)Strong experience with AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, IAM)Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, ECS)Familiarity with observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Cribl, or OpenTelemetryStrong understanding of API design and developmentExperience working in Agile environmentsPreferred QualificationsFinancial services or insurance industry experienceExperience in large-scale enterprise DevOps environmentsFamiliarity with test automation and security testing (SAST, SCA, DAST)Strong interest in DevOps innovation and emerging technologies
