Information Security Technology Portfolio Management Director

Job DescriptionGeneral SummaryVertex’s Data, Technology and Engineering (DTE) organization is seeking a Technology Portfolio Management Director to join our Project Management and Strategic Operations (PMSO) team. Project Management and Strategic Operations is charged with streamlining and simplifying the work of our data and technology teams and ensuring the successful deployment of new technologies across our global enterprise. The Director, Information Security Technology Portfolio Management will report to our Senior Director of Project Management and Strategic Operations and partner directly with our Chief Information Security Officer to oversee the Information Security project portfolio of new technology implementations. The role requires portfolio planning, financial management, governance, and oversight of program, project and change management. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, demonstrate a deep understanding of portfolio, program and project management and expertise in the deployment of enterprise technologies for information security, data management, reporting and analytics.Key Duties And ResponsiblitiesManagement of Information Security new technology implementation portfolioMaintaining technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, and resource and capacity managementDeveloping and managing governance processes for technology implementations to ensure tight coupling to business requirements, executive sponsorship, and strategic prioritiesCo-developing communication decks for regular portfolio reviews and presentations to executive leadershipCo-facilitating technology strategy and portfolio review meetings with senior leadersInfluencing cross-functional stakeholders to ensure strategic thinking, sound decision-making, and proactive risk/ issue mitigation across the portfolioManaging, coaching, and training all project managers for Information Security Technology implementations to ensure excellence in project deliveryCommunicating portfolio status to DTE leadership and the Senior Director of Project Management and Strategic Operations to ensure cross-functional awareness and alignmentManaging the portfolio financials including budget planning, forecasting and accrualsKnowledge And SkillsProven track record of successfully managing complex information technology projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering results within defined timelines and budgetsExceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate information security and data and software engineering technological concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesStrong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders cross-functionally and at all levels of the organizationClear and succinct written and verbal communication is essential and fundamental to the roleStrong, hands-on experience managing all financial components of project, program and portfolio planning and delivery, including budgeting, forecasting and accrualsProven ability to mentor, coach and motivate program and project managers in a way the enables collective success and developmentEducation And ExperienceBachelor's degree or relevant experienceAdvanced degree with strong experience in biotechnology in an information technology setting preferredA minimum of 5 years of experience in project, program and/or portfolio management and exceptional organization and planning skillsExperience in management of information security/cybersecurity technology deployments and operational activitiesTypically requires 10 years of experience or the equivalent combination of education and experiencePay Range$185,600 - $278,400Disclosure StatementThe range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
