Property AccountantLocation: Portland, OR (PDX) Target Salary: $70,000Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to support financial operations across a portfolio of properties. This role goes beyond transactional accounting and requires a hands-on, investigative approach-reviewing discrepancies, identifying root causes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.Key ResponsibilitiesManage cash activity and reconciliations for assigned propertiesReview, analyze, and post transactions within General Ledger (GL)Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activity (data entry handled by support staff)Evaluate transactions and determine proper accounting treatment, including accrual decisionsInvestigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues (e.g., misapplied charges, incorrect allocations)Perform detailed account reconciliations and ensure accuracy across systemsWork within multiple third-party accounting systemsEnsure all financials are completed accurately and deadlines are consistently metExample Work ScenariosResearch and reclassify expenses incorrectly charged to the wrong property or accountAnalyze prior transactions to identify patterns or additional inaccuraciesCollaborate with internal teams to correct financial data and improve processesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferredEquivalent property accounting or full-cycle accounting experience will be consideredStrong understanding of accrual accounting and GL processesExperience reviewing (not just entering) AP/AR transactionsIdeal CandidateHighly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skillsDemonstrates accountability and ownership of workAble to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesNaturally curious and willing to dig into discrepancies rather than just process transactionsStrong organizational and time-management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
