Student Psychological Counselor/Crisis Services – Counseling Services Center (HEA)New York City College of Technology (CUNY) invites applications for a Student Psychological Counselor to provide mental health counseling and support services through the Counseling Services Center. The mission of the Counseling Services Center is to support the educational, emotional, and career development of City Tech students by offering opportunities for skill development, counseling, and referrals to address obstacles to success.ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with Counseling Services and Veteran's Support Services.Provide short-term psychological and crisis counseling to the general student population.Serve as a resource to faculty and administrative staff to provide insight into the impact of mental health issues on college success.Provide clinical supervision to select City Tech employees earning practical hours toward a NY State license in a mental health profession.Maintain records of student contacts.Engage students who are not connecting with campus services.Provide student advocacy in relation to college offices and community agencies.Conduct student development workshops.Perform administrative responsibilities as needed.Participate in assessing and recommending improvements that will positively impact the effectiveness of the Counseling Services Office.Participate actively in outreach initiatives regarding mental health and wellness.QualificationsA Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) or a Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling.A New York State license as a mental health practitioner (social work, psychology, or mental health counseling).Six years of related, post-baccalaureate professional experience.Experience serving the general college student population and the mental health needs of students.Ability to coordinate programming and liaison services with campus and community resources.Ability to provide clinical supervision to City Tech employees seeking NY licensure in a mental health counseling profession.Cultural competency and experience providing counseling services to a diverse student body in a higher education setting.Experience dealing with issues related to personal, academic, and career development.Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.Proficiency in using computers and standard MS Office Suite applications (e.g., Word, Excel).Compensation and BenefitsSalary commensurate with education and experience: $90,838 – $105,816.
