Tasting Room Manager

The Opportunity
Wood Ridge Farm is a destination defined by its connection to the land. While we are known for our "Dirt to Glass" brewing, our wine program is an intimate, estate-focused expression of that same philosophy.
We are not looking for a manager to oversee a massive, generic distribution list. We produce five distinct varietals, and we produce them with pride. We are looking for a Manager who understands that quality outweighs quantity—someone who can take these five wines and build a quality guest experience around them.
The Role
As the Winery Manager, you will be the ultimate champion of our small-batch portfolio. Your goal is to ensure that every guest who walks through our doors leaves understanding exactly why we make these specific wines and what makes them special. You will oversee the tasting room, manage the inventory of our focused vintage list, and train staff to be storytellers as well as servers.
Core Responsibilities
1. Brand Evangelism & Education
Master the Portfolio: You will not just "know" our 5 wines; you will become the authority on them. You will know the harvest conditions, the barrel notes, and the specific food pairings for each.
Staff Training: Move beyond basic pouring. Train our team to explain the farm’s history and the "Why" behind our limited selection.
Cross-Pollination: Successfully introduce our wine list to our brewery guests, bridging the gap between beer lovers and wine enthusiasts.
2. Boutique Inventory Management
Zero-Waste Mentality: With a limited production of only 5 varieties, every bottle counts. You will maintain precise inventory counts and forecast sales to ensure we never run dry on a favorite vintage before the next release.
Quality Control: Monitor the aging and serving temperature of our wines daily to ensure they are presented exactly as the winemaker intended.
3. Guest Experience & Atmosphere
Curated Flights: Design tasting flights that guide the guest through our 5-wine journey in a logical, enjoyable order.
Floor Leadership: Lead by example on the floor, handling VIPs and ensuring the "Farm" hospitality warmth is felt by every table.
Events & Sales: Assist in planning release parties for new vintages and driving sales for our core lineup.
The Ideal Candidate
The "Deep Dive" Mentality: You prefer knowing everything about a few things, rather than a little about everything.
Hospitality Pro: 2+ years in management (Winery, Brewery, or Restaurant).
Sales Focus: You are comfortable selling. You know how to gently guide a guest from "I'll just have a glass" to "I'll take a case home."
Operational Grit: You are organized, tech-savvy (POS/Scheduling), and willing to get your hands dirty.
Local Heart: You love the Blue Ridge mountains and understand the rhythm of a farm-based business.
