Role SummaryThe Safety Director is responsible for leading, developing, and enforcing the safety strategy for Building Blocks Facades across both manufacturing operations (Merritt Island facility) and field construction sites nationwide.This role ensures a zero-incident safety culture by driving proactive risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Building Blocks’ principles of speed, intensity, and world-class execution.The Safety Director will spend approximately 50% of their time traveling to active job sites, working directly with field teams, subcontractors, and project leadership to ensure safety standards are consistently applied and upheld.Key Responsibilities1. Safety Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and lead the company-wide health & safety program across manufacturing and field operationsEstablish safety policies, procedures, and standards aligned with:OSHA regulationsConstruction and manufacturing best practicesPromote a culture of personal ownership, accountability, and proactive hazard identificationServe as the company’s senior safety leader, modeling expectations and driving behavioral change2. Field Safety Oversight (Construction Sites – 50% Travel)Conduct regular site visits to active projects to: Audit safety compliance, Observe work practices, Identify and correct hazards in real timePartner with: Project Managers, Superintendents, Subcontractors, Ensure enforcement of: Fall protection, Rigging and lifting practices, Scaffold safety, Equipment usageLead site-specific safety planning and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)3. Manufacturing Safety (Merritt Island Facility)Oversee safety programs within: Carpentry, Mold shop, GFRC/UHPC production, Steel fabrication and material handlingEnsure safe practices for: Heavy equipment operation, Chemical handling (resins, cementitious materials), Dust/silica exposure controlConduct routine safety audits and inspections4. Compliance, Audits & ReportingEnsure full compliance with: OSHA standards, Federal, state, and local safety regulationsMaintain: OSHA logs (300/300A/301). Incident reports and investigation documentationLead internal and external safety auditsTrack and report key safety metrics: TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate), Near misses, Lost Time Incidents5. Incident Management & Root Cause AnalysisLead investigation of: Incidents, Near misses, Safety violationsConduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actionsEnsure rapid response and communication of lessons learnedDevelop preventive strategies to eliminate recurrence6. Training & Workforce DevelopmentDevelop and deliver safety training programs, including: OSHA 10/30 requirements, Site-specific safety training, Equipment and process safetyEnsure onboarding safety orientation for all new hiresCoach supervisors and managers on safety leadership and accountability7. Subcontractor & Vendor Safety ManagementEvaluate subcontractor safety programs and performanceEnsure all subcontractors comply with Building Blocks safety standardsParticipate in pre-construction safety planningSupport vendor qualification and safety reviews8. Continuous Improvement & Risk MitigationIdentify trends and implement preventative safety initiativesDrive improvements in: Site safety planning, Hazard mitigation processes, Safety communication, Integrate safety into operational planning and decision-makingQualificationsRequired Experience8+ years of safety leadership experience in:Construction, manufacturing, or industrial environmentsProven experience managing safety across:Field construction sitesProduction/manufacturing facilitiesWorking knowledge of:OSHA regulations (construction + general industry)Demonstrated success reducing incidents and improving safety culturePreferred QualificationsOSHA 30-hour certification (required or ability to obtain quickly)OSHA 500 (Outreach Trainer Certification) strongly preferredCSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST certification preferredExperience in:Façade systemsPrecast, GFRC, UHPC, or concrete constructionExperience managing multi-state or multi-site safety programsBilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferredSuccess IndicatorsReduction in incident rates (TRIR, lost time incidents)High compliance across all sites and operationsStrong field presence and engagementZero tolerance for unsafe practicesHigh adoption of safety programs and proceduresPositive audit results and regulatory complianceTravel RequirementApproximately 50% travel to project sites across the United StatesAbility to respond quickly to site-related safety issues as neededCultural ExpectationsAligned with Building Blocks principles, the Safety Director will:Move with high velocityMaintain unsurpassed safety standardsOperate at a world-class levelApply intense focus on risk prevention and accountability
