This role is heavily focused on developing and tuning stored procedures, improving query performance, implementing scalable data access patterns, and managing ETL processes in Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.This is a hands-on, individual contributor role ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex data problems, writing efficient SQL, and owning database-related features end-to-end. You will work closely with application engineers and partner with senior database leadership on architecture and performance initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain stored procedures, functions, and queries for application featuresBuild, monitor, and troubleshoot ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Microsoft FabricOptimize existing SQL code for performance, scalability, and maintainabilityAnalyze execution plans and resolve performance bottlenecks (indexing, query design, data access patterns)Collaborate with application developers to implement efficient database interactionsTranslate business requirements into well-structured database solutionsSupport schema design, data modeling, and database changes for new featuresMonitor and troubleshoot production issues related to database and pipeline performanceAssist with database administration tasks (performance monitoring, deployments, basic maintenance)Contribute to database standards, code quality, and best practicesOwn database-related workstreams from design through deployment and validationRequired Qualifications4-7 years of experience working with PostgreSQL, and/or Microsoft SQL ServerStrong SQL development skills, including writing and optimizing complex stored proceduresExperience managing ETL/ELT processes in Azure Data Factory and Microsoft FabricSolid understanding of query execution plans, indexing strategies, joins, aggregations, and set-based operationsExperience diagnosing and resolving performance issues in production environmentsFamiliarity with Azure or other cloud-based database platformsExperience working closely with application teams on database-backed featuresStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailPreferred QualificationsPostgreSQL development experienceExperience with Databricks (notebooks, jobs, or lakehouse patterns)Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Azure Monitor)Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for database deploymentsExposure to high-availability and disaster recovery conceptsExperience working in structured, enterprise environmentsFamiliarity with tools such as SSMS, Azure Data Studio, DataGrip, or pgAdminWhat Success Looks LikeStored procedures and queries are efficient, reliable, and scalableETL pipelines in ADF and Fabric run reliably and are maintained effectivelyApplication features backed by database logic perform well under loadPerformance issues are identified and resolved proactivelyDatabase changes are delivered cleanly and with minimal production riskEngineering teams rely on you for strong SQL expertise and executionBenefits: Generous health, dental, & vision benefits packageFlexible paid time off   11 paid company holidays401k + matchingParental leaveAccess to our award-winning RethinkCare platform supporting neurodiversity in the workplace through parental success, professional resilience, and personal wellbeing.
