Job Summary
As a Music Therapist, you will play a vital role in enhancing the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals through the power of music. You will utilize your expertise in music therapy to develop personalized treatment plans that cater to the unique needs of your clients, including children, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those facing mental health challenges. Your work will involve both individual and group therapy sessions, fostering a supportive environment that encourages healing and personal growth.
What you’ll do
Design and implement individualized music therapy programs tailored to meet the specific needs of clients.
Conduct assessments to evaluate clients’ emotional, cognitive, and social functioning.
Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions using various musical techniques, including songwriting, improvisation, and music listening.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care and ensure effective treatment planning.
Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Provide support for patients in hospice care, focusing on comfort and emotional expression through music.
Engage with clients who have autism or other developmental disabilities using targeted therapeutic approaches.
Offer addiction counseling through music therapy techniques to promote recovery and resilience.
Basic qualifications
A degree in Music Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution.
Certification as a Music Therapist (MT-BC) by the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
Preferred qualifications
Experience working with children in therapeutic settings.
Familiarity with behavioral health practices and mental health counseling techniques.
Knowledge of CPT coding for outpatient services.
Experience in recreational therapy or art therapy modalities.
Background in dementia care or working with elderly populations.
