Assistant Women's Basket Ball CoachSalary: $5,000 stipendI. Position PurposeThis position reports to the Head Coach – Women’s Basketball. This is a professionalcoaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherencewith the policies, rules, and regulations of affiliated national, regional, and stateintercollegiate athletic associations, NJCAAE, and Hocking College.The Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coachby coaching student athletes, recruiting, monitoring student athlete academic progress,scheduling, managing travel and overseeing the discipline, conduct, and image of thestudent athlete.II. Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe following list provides examples of the most typical duties for positions in this jobclass. Individual positions may not include all of the examples listed, nor does the listinclude all of the work that may be assigned to positions in this job class. Recruit quality prospective student-athletes and ensure timely submission of theiracademic records for admissions. Participate in recruitment and designation ofstudent-athletes. Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NJCAA and Conferenceregulations. Coach team members individually and in groups, and demonstrate gametechniques. May manage a designated skill development area or group ofpositions. Develop and recommend game strategy and position assignments. Monitor the purchase of uniforms, equipment and supplies, includingaccountability for expense control and administration of the sport’s budget. Coordinate with the Athletic Director the planning of recruiting and team travel. Participate in the selection and fitting of team equipment. Promote the athletic program and specific sport through community events,public speaking, fundraising, and marketing. Ensure adherence to all Association, Conference, and College rules by athletesand supporting staff. Monitor academic progress and status of team members, implementing actionplans through appropriate staff when needed. Monitor and maintain the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support theimage and reputation of the athletics program.III. Qualifications – Education, Experience, And Skills This position requires an Associate’s degree from an accredited universityin an appropriate area of specialization. One year of coaching experience at the high school or higher level. Successful experience as a graduate student or intern is acceptable for upTo One Year Of The Required Experience. Additional education and/or experience may be required for certain sports. Related coaching experience at the professional level can be substitutedfor the degree requirements.IV.
