EOE Come join our team today! ****No Recruiters/Staffing Companies**** Beloit Health System is hiring for a Secretary in our Surgical Services Department. In this role, the Surgical Services Secretary will work with department surgeons, and their staff to coordinate surgery scheduling. This individual provides information about cases to clinical staff to ensure proper preparation. The Surgical Services Secretary utilizes skills to ensure hospital inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory surgeries are scheduled and coordinated as needed. Answers phones, takes messages, and provides all secretarial functions of the department. Schedules patients for hospital inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory surgeries to ensure patients are scheduled in an appropriate manner. Schedules patient's pre-operative examination and lab work to ensure completion prior to surgery. Prepares pre-run schedule and schedules for the following day with specific times for each case. Notifies effected staff, services, and departments if a case is rescheduled, canceled or added to ensure appropriate persons are contacted. Coordinates with Materials Coordinator, Anesthesia and Nursing to assure that the essential resources are available for the surgical procedure. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions. Helps to maintain department security and traffic control. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Ability to understand a variety of communication styles. Timely completion of assigned duties.
