Enable students to develop scientific knowledge, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities aligned with state standards (TEKS).QualificationsEducation/Certification* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university* Valid Texas teaching certificate in appropriate science content area (e.g., Composite Science 712, Biology 712, Chemistry 712, Physics 712)Experience* Student teaching, internship, or classroom teaching experience preferred* Experience working with diverse student populationsMajor Responsibilities and DutiesInstructional StrategiesDevelop and implement lesson plans aligned to TEKS and district curriculumDeliver engaging, rigorous instruction using a variety of instructional strategiesDifferentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners (including SPED, 504, ELs)Use lab-based and inquiry-driven instruction to promote scientific investigationIntegrate technology and real-world applications into lessonsClassroom ManagementEstablish and maintain a positive, structured learning environmentManage student behavior in accordance with district policies and student code of conductEnsure safety procedures are followed during laboratory activitiesAssessment & Data UseAssess student progress using formative and summative assessmentsAnalyze student data to inform instruction and interventionProvide timely feedback to students and parentsCommunicationMaintain open communication with students, parents, and staffParticipate in parent conferences and ARD/504 meetings as requiredCollaborate with colleagues in PLCs and department meetingsProfessional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in professional development and district trainingMaintain accurate records (grades, attendance, lesson plans)Comply with all district, state, and federal policiesWorking ConditionsAbility to manage a classroom environmentFrequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 25 lbs)Exposure to laboratory materials and equipmentSpecial Knowledge/SkillsStrong content knowledge in assigned science subject(s)Knowledge of TEKS and high school graduation requirementsEffective classroom management and organizational skillsAbility to use instructional technology and data systemsEvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with district policies (T-TESS)Salary is commensurate with experienceMinimum Salary $66,000 for fully certified teachersWorks 187-day ContractPlease note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through April 26, 2026.
