Our maintenance team plays a critical role in keeping our heavy equipment safe, reliable, and operational to support 24/7 service delivery.Position Summary The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment used in hauling, transfer stations, and landfill operations. This includes loaders, compactors, excavators, dozers, off-road equipment, and related systems. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, safety-focused, and experienced working in demanding, field-based environments.Key Responsibilities Heavy Equipment Maintenance & Repair Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems on heavy equipmentPerform preventative maintenance (PMs) according to manufacturer and company guidelinesRepair or replace engines, transmissions, drivetrains, braking systems, suspension, and steering componentsTroubleshoot hydraulic systems including cylinders, pumps, valves, and hosesConduct inspections to identify wear, safety concerns, or potential failuresShop & Field Support Perform on-site repairs at landfills, yards, or field locations as neededRespond to breakdowns to minimize downtime and operational disruptionMaintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and inspection documentationOperate shop equipment and diagnostic tools safely and correctlyMaintain cleanliness and organization of shop and work areasSafety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies, OSHA guidelines, and PPE requirementsEnsure equipment meets safety and operational standards before returning to serviceParticipate in safety meetings, trainings, and inspectionsSupport compliance with DOT and internal equipment safety standards where applicableQualifications Required 2+ years of experience maintaining or repairing heavy equipment or industrial machineryStrong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systemsAbility to read manuals, schematics, and diagnostic dataAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsStrong safety awareness and problem-solving skillsValid drivers license with acceptable driving recordPreferred Heavy equipment experience in waste, landfill, construction, or industrial environmentsWelding and fabrication experienceExperience with loaders, dozers, excavators, compactors, or off-road equipmentDOT or fleet maintenance exposureTechnical or vocational training in diesel or heavy equipment mechanicsWork Environment Hands-on role in shop, yard, landfill, and field environmentsExposure to heavy machinery, noise, dust, and outdoor conditionsMay require evening, weekend, or on-call work based on operational needsWhy Join Capital Waste Services Stable, growing company with long-term career opportunitiesWell-maintained equipment and strong safety cultureCompetitive pay and benefitsOpportunity to work on a wide variety of heavy equipmentSupportive maintenance leadership and team environment#diesel #mechanic #solid #waste #maintenance #toolsRequirements:MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired but not required.A minimum of at least 2 years of vehicle/hydraulic maintenance experience is required position along with a high school diploma or GED.Valid state drivers license preferred but not required.Must pass criminal background checkPI6111c3e7a325-26289-40463648
