Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Small Equipment Mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a diverse fleet of company equipment, including landscape, utility, and construction support equipment. This role will help ensure crews have safe, reliable, and efficient equipment to support daily operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience diagnosing and repairing 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines, performing preventive maintenance, managing shop inventory, and maintaining accurate service records.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines on commercial mowers, string trimmers, blowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, and other small equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, spark plug changes, and belt replacements.
Sharpen equipment blades and inspect safety guards to help ensure equipment meets OSHA and company safety standards.
Troubleshoot and maintain equipment used for landscape, utility, and construction support operations.
Perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment such as skid steers and other machinery as needed.
Monitor and maintain shop parts and equipment inventory.
Organize inventory and track parts through the company's system.
Coordinate with vendors to obtain required parts and supplies.
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records.
Keep the maintenance shop clean, organized, and safe.
Follow company safety procedures and maintenance standards.
Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of experience repairing engines and outdoor power equipment.
Strong knowledge of 2-cycle and 4-cycle engine diagnostics and repair.
Experience servicing commercial landscaping or utility equipment preferred.
Familiarity with hydraulic systems and diesel engines is preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine appropriate repairs.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to maintain accurate service records and manage parts inventory.
