Job Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of financial information and reports while providing leadership and guidance to the accounting team.
Job Duties May Include:
Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations.
Assit in Annual Financial Statement Audit and Bank Collateral Exam preparation, ensuring all documentation and records are accurate and available.
Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
Manage weekly check runs working with the Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure invoices are entered timely and accurately.
Monitor the Accounts Payable Aging ensuring items are paid and outstanding balances are corrected in a timely manner.
Review and reconcile vendor statements to the vendor ledger. Follow up with the vendor on any differences.
Review and assist the Accounts Receivable Specialist in ensuring sales invoices are sent out timely and accurately.
Monitor the accounts receivable aging ensuring items are collected and outstanding balances are corrected in a timely manner.
Review customer balances and payment terms. Work closely with the sales team and customer services team to resolve past due costumer balances and collections.
Manage the corporate credit card and expense reimbursement programs.
Reconcile the daily cash transactions. Post auto drafts and recurring bank items to the ERP System.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns.
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures, ensuring they align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
Minimum of three (3) years prior accounting experience required, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Preference will be given to those with applicable experience with manufacturing accounting background.
Advanced, proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.
Excellent analytic problem solving and math skills required.
Previous experience with ERP system (Sage X3) preferred, but not required.
Excellent Written and Oral Communication skills required.
Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals
Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner
Ability to multi-task in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in a facility that handles allergens including but not limited to: wheat, soy, egg, and milk.
Prolonged periods of sitting in a chair and working on a computer.
