Worship Director
Faith Manhattan Church is seeking a full-time Worship Director to step into a meaningful and exciting season in the life of our church. We are a growing, multigenerational community with increasing momentum among college-age young adults and NextGen ministries. Currently, our Sunday services are full, and we are looking for new ways to grow and disciple more people.This role provides primary leadership for: 1. Planning and directing worship for Sunday gatherings and special services.2. Building and developing healthy volunteer teams.3. Plays a vital role in shaping a worship culture that is Christ-centered, prayerful and engages the congregation in a heart of worship. Core Purpose of the Role This is a key leadership opportunity for someone who is energized by both the spiritual and practical work of worship ministry and wants to help a church grow in depth, not just scale. As you will see this role requires strong functional leadership in worship planning, team development, and Sunday execution, while also contributing to the spiritual formation and spiritual leadership of the church. We are posting this position as Worship Director to reflect the core functional needs of the role. Candidates with pastoral training, ministry education, licensure, or ordination are encouraged to apply, though these are not required. We are looking for a leader who can provide strong worship leadership now and who has the character and capacity to grow in spiritual influence over time.Primary Responsibilities1. Sunday Gatherings and Worship Leadership ▪ Plan and lead Sunday worship gatherings in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and staff for all worship locations (Worship Center and The Venue).▪ Select and arrange songs and liturgical elements (such as Scripture readings, prayers, and confessions) that support the service theme and sermon.▪ Finalize and communicate service plans to volunteers in advance.▪ Lead rehearsals and guide Sunday service execution with clear leadership.▪ Coordinate worship leadership coverage when absent.▪ Lead worship for special services and gatherings throughout the year (Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and other seasonal or event gatherings).2. Team Leadership and Volunteer Development ▪ Recruit, train, and develop worship and AVL volunteers.▪ Build a healthy ministry culture marked by collaboration and shared leadership.▪ Provide coaching and encouragement to volunteer musicians, vocalists, and technical team members.▪ Help create pathways for onboarding and developing new volunteers.▪ Support part-time worship and technical leaders as applicable.3. Worship Systems and Technology (AVL)▪ Oversee worship-related AVL needs for Sunday gatherings and key church events.▪ Help maintain and improve worship systems, equipment, and workflows.▪ Partner with technical volunteers and staff to ensure clear, distraction-free support for congregational worship.▪ Help steward worship/AVL-related budget priorities in collaboration with church leadership.4. Communication and Coordination▪ Coordinate worship-related planning and communication with staff and volunteers.▪ Help organize service elements such as announcements, transitions, and featured moments in collaboration with staff.▪ Partner with communications support as needed to align worship ministry with broader church initiatives. 5. Discipleship and Pastoral Presence▪ Provide spiritual encouragement and discipleship to worship and AVL volunteers.▪ Help cultivate a ministry culture of prayer, spiritual attentiveness, and pastoral care.▪ Contribute to the spiritual formation and pastoral life of the church in ways consistent with gifting, maturity, and role development.See additional details on our website at https://www.faithmanhattan.org/job
